Taotaotas 50cc (30-litre) scooters are getting a bump up in price for 2019 with the introduction of a “Ramp up” upgrade for the Tokyo Motor Fair.
The upgraded models will be priced at ¥7,999 (about US$990).
“Ramp-up” refers to a series of upgrades that allows the Taotaopo Taotoos 50c and 50c scooters to run at higher speeds.
The upgrade will include the ability to boost power and torque to 300kph (185mph), a more powerful engine, and a range of other new features.
The upgrade is available to all 50cc models, including the 50cc Taotaomotas, 50cc Daisies and 50cc Rooibos.
“A new powertrain will be a major improvement to the Taotos 50s, as it will enable the vehicle to run a higher top speed and increase the performance,” Taotaogas spokesman Masaaki Kojima told Tokyoist.
Taotao also said it would be extending the service life of the 50c to five years.
Tokyopo has announced it will make the “Ramps Up” upgrade available for all of its 50cc model line-ups from 2019.
